Civil War is the best thing Marvel ever did, and by far the most true to the Real World.

A lotta people whined and moaned and bitched about it at the time, but not me. I saw the absolute value and realism behind the idea, and was shocked it took a comic book company that long to understand what would really happen. (Not counting the X-Men, and to a large extent Batman, of course.)

So I’m very, very glad to see this and hope it is not just a title play. Of course, considering the cast and the plot of the next Avenger’s film it looks like they might actually be moving in this direction (for really real).

If this is done right, and it’s not just a cheap trick of misdirection, it will bury forever the Civil War was a mistake crap.

By the way I’m very glad to see both Falcon and the Winter Soldier back. Falcon is a most excellent wingman (and the character I enjoyed most in the last Cap film), and there’s a lot of different directions you could go with the Winter Soldier (who I also liked a lot).

Russos Confirm Scarlett Johansson Will Return for Captain America: Civil War

January 15, 2015

Following the teases earlier today from screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, directors Anthony and Joe Russo have arrived with additional quotes about Captain America: Civil War. Speaking at a press event in Beijing with (via CBM), the pair revealed that Scarlett Johansson will in fact return as Black Widow for Captain America: Civil War.

“We’ve been preparing for the movie since the one debuted last year,” Anthony said. “So, we’ve been working on it for a long time now. We’re very happy how it’s coming along. Captain America 3 is gonna be called Captain America: Civil War and it’s going to star Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson will be back, Winter Soldier will be back, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man will also be joining us in the next film.”

Johansson’s inclusion in the film adds yet another high profile member of the MCU to the cast that is also set to include Anthony Mackie as The Falcon, Chadwick Boseman in his MCU debut as Black Panther, Daniel Bruhl in a mystery role, Frank Grillo as Crossbones, and potentially Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

Captain America: Civil War is set for release on May 6, 2016.
