The Road to Building a Gaming PC PART II


In part II, let’s talk about the actual process of putting everything together. While not difficult, it does take some time and patience. It’s is akin to putting a puzzle together, placing parts in places where it fits.

Here’s a few tips:

  1. Don’t be a scrub like me and screw the motherboard in before you insert the CPU and attach the CPU Cooler. It’ll make your life harder.
  2. For the CPU Cooler, screw the plate to the back of the motherboard first, then screw in any corresponding pieces at the front side and then proceed to put on the thermal paste. Note: Premature thermal paste placement = sticky silver crap everywhere.
  3. There are many guides out there on overclocking but I would focus on just the CPU. Overclocking GPU and RAM typically doesn’t offer extraordinary return vs the extra heat generated.
