I find it fitting to kick off the Why Sci-Fi? series with the great-grandaddy of them all!

This George Melies classic is about a professor  and five of his friends who depart Terra Firma in the Extra-Terrestrial-Aeronautical-Projectile on an exploratory voyage to the moon.
