Blu-Ray Player is the first UWP app for the Xbox One

The first UWP app for the Xbox One has finally been released by Microsoft, but don’t expect much from it. The app is just the same Blu-Ray Player app found on the device, and from what we have come to find out, Microsoft has added nothing new concerning playback features.

According to the software giant, the app is now available via the Xbox Universal Store, but can only be accessed by the top 20,000 preview members.

The following is what Microsoft had to say in a forum thread:

“Hey everyone,

You’ve likely heard about the new universal apps platform for Windows 10, which also includes Xbox, and the Xbox Universal Store introduced in the latest Xbox One update.

Tonight, we’re excited to launch the first universal app on Xbox One to a subset of Preview users: Blu-Ray Player.
