Bodiam Castle & Sissinghurst

Beer, Wine, and Blisters

One of the places we’re looking forward to checking out is Bodiam Castle, a 14th-century moated castle about an hour away from London. (Yes, that’s right–it has a freaking moat.)

Bodiam Castle I’ll just leave this here. No big deal. 

We plan to visit Bodiam Castle while on our day trip to Sissinghurst Castle Garden in Kent. L&T are very excited to see the gardens and have been paging through a Sissinghurst book for the last few months! Sissinghurst Castle was the home of writer, poet, and gardener Vita Sackville-West, who was also the inspiration for Virginia Woolf’s book Orlando: A Biography. We’ve been reading her novel, The Edwardians, in preparation for the trip.

One of the amazing things about a country as old as England is its amazing historical sites. If only we were going for long, we’d probably spend half our time visiting them! Alas, this time, we’re quite limited–but hey…
